Valley of the Sun Gardeners
Fifty Years of Gardening
The Valley of the Sun Gardeners, established in 1965, is the oldest general gardening club in Phoenix. Members are men and women of all gardening skill levels.

The focus of the club is as much social as it learning. The Valley of the Sun Gardeners agree that "gardening is cheaper than therapy and you get tomatoes!" The club enjoys monthly speakers, slide presentations and demonstrations of plant-related subjects. Activities include field trips, garden tours, garden parties, a July ice cream social and a Christmas potluck banquet with live entertainment. A twice-yearly raffle offering plant and garden-related items is held to benefit the Valley of the Sun Gardeners club.

The Valley of the Sun Gardeners is a non-profit 501(c) (3) gardening club. Your membership dues are tax-deductible. Individual membership is $30.00. Family membership is $40.00.

We meet at the historic Valley Garden Center in Central Phoenix
The Valley Garden Center was incorporated on July 11, 1939. In December 1946, a lease was signed with the City of Phoenix Parks Board for a strip of land in Encanto Park on 15th Avenue, bounded by Coronado and Holly Streets, for 99 years at a cost of $1.00 per year. In January 1948, the Rose Garden was established between Palm Lane and Holly Street. The Valley Garden Center building was started in July 1948, and was completed and dedicated in January, 1949. The building and Courtyard Gardens are located on 15th Avenue between Coronado Street and Palm Lane. Most of the major garden clubs in Phoenix meet at the Valley Garden Center. The facility and garden are available to reserve for weddings and other events.
